Spurgeon: The Man Beyond the Pulpit

Charles Haddon Spurgeon preached to millions and wrote more than almost anyone in Christian history. Yet the man himself is often lost behind the pulpit.

In this major new biography, Ray Rhodes, Jr. tells the whole story: the rural English boyhood that shaped him, the joys of his marriage and ministry, and the controversy, chronic illness, depression and private grief he carried. Spurgeon emerges as a man whose strength was forged in suffering and sustained by Christ.
